The Fraunhofer Research Institution for Individualized and Cell-based Medical Engineering IMTE in Lübeck focuses in particular on the integrated development of medical devices for diagnostic and therapeutic applications. By bundling competencies from medical and cellular engineering, combined with strong links to leading university hospitals and close integration of regulatory aspects, Fraunhofer IMTE offers a unique service portfolio for the medical device industry.
At IMTE, research is conducted on the instrumentation of Magnetic Particle Imaging systems. The technology is able to determine and visualize the distribution of iron oxide-based contrast agents in high dynamics. In addition, information about the tracer’s microenvironment, such as temperature or viscosity, can be extracted from the data. The systems consist of highly specialized magnetic field generators with optimized electromagnetic coils and permanent magnets. The position is 50% based at Fraunhofer IMTE. It will be flanked by a matching 50% position at the University of Lübeck which is announced by the university.
Your tasks in this project include:
System engineering of mechanical and electrical assemblies to a unified system design. Simulation, design and assembly of medical magnetic field generators Performing technical evaluation tests Writing scientific publications and presentations at congresses Writing project reports and presentations Working in a highly interdisciplinary team of physicists, electrical engineers, computer scientists, medical and safety engineers
What we expect from you
Outstanding science degree in engineering, physics, or a comparable field (Ph.D. desirable, but not required). Experience in several of the following: Circuit design, AC theory, resonant circuits, electrical measurement, CAD (SolidWorks or similar), signal processing, analysis of measured data. Experience in Matlab, Julia, Python or similar languages desirable Independent, careful and structured way of working Industrial experience desirable
